GyMei at MUNNY 2023

Finally, the time had come again! From the 23rd until the 26th of March, 15 students from Gymnasium Meiendorf were able to attend the MUN conference in Nyborg, Denmark
(MUNNY) after a 3-year Corona break, where we have been loyal visitors for years. This year, we were able to represent Hungary, China, India, and Denmark in the ECOSOC,
Human Rights Council, Security Council, and Security Council as well as the Historical Security Council. Additionally, we had the honor of having two of our students, our Secretaries General Emelie and Robin, serve as chairs in the ECOSOC and Human Rights Council.

The conference began with the traditional opening ceremony at Nyborg Gymnasium, where, among others, the Secretary General and Conference Manager of MUNNY gave speeches. Afterwards, the various committees met for the first time and got to know each other, while the school provided pizza for us. The next two days were devoted to debating, filled with lots of speeches, points of information as well as entertaining punishments and gossip while we got to know each other better. Our delegations discussed important issues such as political corruption, religious intolerance, or went back to 1956 and discussed the Hungarian Revolution in the Historical Security Council.

Debating for long hours can be exhausting, so we deserved the evenings which we spent on the nearby beach or in the sauna for those who found it too cold outside. We also had a lot of fun at the MUNNY party with all the other participants, where we danced and socialized with others. On Sunday, it was time to say goodbye after emotional speeches from the Executive Team and chairs which also presented awards to those who had performed particularly well during the conference.Among them were of course also some students from our school. Maliana (10th Grade) and Thies (11th Grade), congratulations!

Although we were all exhausted and had a one-hour sleep deficit due to the time change, we were very grateful for the wonderful time we spent together in Nyborg and are looking forward to seeing the new friends we made at our own MUNoH conference here at Gymnasium Meiendorf in October. We hereby thank Mrs. Breckwoldt and Mr. Ellenbürger for
accompanying us on the trip and the MUNoH e.V. as well as the Schulverein for their great support. We can guarantee that we had a lot of fun and gained many new experiences.
